Pulcino d’Oro: sport, children and environmental sustainability

The Pulcino d’Oro is much more than just a football tournament. Over the years, it has become an educational and social project involving not only the best Italian and international clubs, but also hundreds of volunteers, associations and students from the local area.

The event represents a unique opportunity for young people to grow as a model of collaboration and positive values recognised by the Autonomous Province of Trento.

Since its sixth edition, Pulcino d’Oro has focused strongly on environmental sustainability, becoming an “Eco-Event” in Trentino.

To reduce its environmental impact, the tournament has adopted concrete measures such as:

  • Washable tableware and the elimination of disposable items;
  • Separate waste collection;
  • Meal control to reduce waste;
  • Accessible drinking water without plastic;
  • Accommodation close to the sports fields to limit travel.

The event also involves local students in organisational roles, teaching them ecological and organisational values. In addition, Levico Terme, the location of the ‘International Tournament’, was the first tourist destination in the world to be certified according to GSTC standards.

The Pulcino d’Oro thus demonstrates how sport, education and environmental protection can be integrated, offering a model of an event that is both entertaining and educational, and which empowers participants.

This project is supported by the “Alta Valsugana and Bersntol Community“.
